cylinder block
Engine's main casting
A cylinder block is the main structural component of an internal combustion engine—the solid metal casting that contains the cylinders where pistons move up and down.
It houses the crankcase and provides mounting points for other engine components.
Also called an engine block: The mechanic found a crack in the cylinder block.
