Camshaft chamber cap
A valve cover is the removable lid on top of an engine's cylinder head, protecting the valvetrain components beneath—rocker arms, camshafts, and valve springs.
Valve covers keep oil in and debris out.
They're common maintenance access points: I need to replace the valve cover gasket—it's leaking oil.
Also called rocker cover, especially in British English.
