curbstones
Sidewalk edge blocks
Curbstones are the stone or concrete blocks that form a curb—the raised edge separating a sidewalk from the street.
The term emphasizes the material construction: The old curbstones were granite, worn smooth by a century of use.
Now often replaced by the simpler curb, curbstone survives in older texts and regional speech.
