crusading

Fighting for change

Crusading describes zealous campaigning for a cause, often with moral fervor or righteous conviction: a crusading journalist, her crusading efforts against corruption.

The word carries connotations of passionate advocacy that may border on self-righteousness.

Originally referred to participation in the medieval Crusades, but now applies to any energetic reform movement or moral campaign.
