cross-talk

Unwanted channel overlap

Cross-talk is unwanted signal interference between adjacent communication channels—when a phone line picks up fragments of another conversation, or audio bleeds between tracks.

In computing, it's interference between circuit paths.

The term extends to any situation where separate conversations or processes contaminate each other: There was too much cross-talk between departments.

In dialogue, cross-talk means overlapping speech where people talk simultaneously, often creating confusion or comedy.
