cotangent
Adjacent over opposite
Cotangent is a trigonometric function—the ratio of the adjacent side to the opposite side in a right triangle, or equivalently, the reciprocal of tangent.
Abbreviated cot or ctn.
The cotangent of 45 degrees is 1.
Like other trig functions, it extends beyond triangles into periodic functions used throughout mathematics and physics.
