cord-cutting

Abandoning traditional television

Cord-cutting is canceling traditional cable or satellite television service in favor of streaming alternatives.

The cord is the cable connecting viewers to subscription TV packages; cutting it means switching to services like Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube TV.

We saved a hundred dollars a month by cord-cutting.

The practice has accelerated as streaming options multiply.
