linear TV
Old-school television viewing
Linear TV is traditional broadcast television where programming airs according to a fixed schedule, as opposed to on-demand streaming services.
Viewers watch what's on when it's on, or they miss it: We still have linear TV for live sports.
The term emerged to distinguish scheduled broadcasting from the à la carte model of Netflix and its competitors.
