contactor

Industrial circuit breaker

A contactor is an electrically controlled switch used to make or break power circuits, especially in industrial and commercial applications.

Unlike ordinary switches operated by hand, contactors are activated by electromagnetic coils, allowing them to handle high currents safely and be controlled remotely or automatically.

They're essential components in motor control systems, HVAC equipment, and lighting panels.

The contactor clicked on when the thermostat called for cooling.
