disconnector
Safety isolation switch
A disconnector is a device or mechanism designed to break an electrical circuit or separate components, typically for safety or maintenance purposes.
In electrical systems, disconnectors isolate sections of equipment so workers can service them without risk of shock.
In firearms, the disconnector prevents multiple rounds from firing with a single trigger pull by temporarily disconnecting the trigger from the firing mechanism until it's released and pulled again.
