computer mouse
Handheld cursor controller
A computer mouse is a handheld pointing device that controls a cursor on screen.
Moving the mouse across a surface moves the cursor; buttons allow clicking, selecting, and dragging.
The name comes from the device's shape and tail-like cord, though wireless mice have made the resemblance less apt.
Plural: mice or mouses.
