committeeman

Elected group participant

A committeeman is a male member of a committee, particularly one serving in a political organization at the local level.

In American politics, committeemen often work at the precinct or ward level, helping to organize voters, recruit candidates, and maintain party machinery.

The ward committeeman has been knocking on doors for decades.

The term is sometimes replaced by the gender-neutral committeeperson.
