colloquiums

Scholarly discussion meetings

Colloquiums is the plural of colloquium, a somewhat formal gathering for academic discussion—typically a lecture followed by questions, or a seminar where specialists present research to colleagues.

Less formal than a symposium, more structured than a conversation: The department hosts weekly colloquiums on current research.

The Latin plural colloquia also appears.
