Gender-integrated residences
Coed dorms are college residence halls housing both male and female students.
The arrangement varies—some buildings alternate floors or wings by sex, others mix genders on the same hallway or even within rooms.
Once controversial, coed housing is now standard at most American universities: Freshmen are assigned to coed dorms unless they request otherwise.
