cockleshells

Small ridged mollusks

Cockleshells are the ribbed, heart-shaped shells of cockles—small edible bivalve mollusks found in sandy coastal waters.

The word appears most famously in the nursery rhyme "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary": with silver bells and cockleshells.

A cockleshell can also mean a small, fragile boat, from the shell's curved shape.
