coatimundi

Long-snouted raccoon cousin

A coatimundi is a raccoon-like mammal native to Central and South America, with a long flexible snout and a banded tail held upright when walking.

Also called coati.

They forage in groups, using their snouts to root through leaf litter for insects and fruit.

A coatimundi raided our campsite looking for scraps.
