cis people
Identity matches assignment
Cis people are those whose gender identity matches the sex they were assigned at birth—the opposite of transgender.
The prefix cis- comes from Latin meaning "on the same side as." The term emerged in gender studies and LGBTQ+ discourse as a neutral descriptor: Cis people don't always understand what it's like to be misgendered.
Some find the label unnecessary or objectionable; others consider it simply parallel to trans.
