nonbinary people
Outside the binary
Nonbinary people are those whose gender identity falls outside the traditional male-female binary.
Some identify as both genders, neither, or as a third gender entirely.
The term emerged in the early 21st century alongside growing recognition that gender exists on a spectrum: Nonbinary people may use they/them pronouns.
Often shortened to NB or enby.
