chart room
Where maps live
A chart room is a dedicated space on a ship where navigational charts, maps, and plotting instruments are kept and where officers plan courses and track the vessel's position.
On larger vessels, it adjoins the bridge or wheelhouse: The captain retreated to the chart room to review their route through the strait.
