challenge flag
Review request signal
A challenge flag is a weighted red marker that NFL coaches throw onto the field to dispute an official's call, triggering a video review.
Each team gets a limited number of challenges per game: He threw the challenge flag on the catch ruling.
The term sometimes extends metaphorically to any formal objection or request for reconsideration.
