carrier oil

Essential oil vehicle

A carrier oil is a neutral vegetable oil used to dilute essential oils before applying them to the skin.

Essential oils are too concentrated to use directly, so they're mixed with carriers like jojoba, coconut, or sweet almond oil.

The carrier "carries" the essential oil safely onto the body.

Mix a few drops of lavender with a tablespoon of carrier oil.
