carcase
Butcher's raw framework
Carcase is the British spelling of carcass, referring to the dead body of an animal, especially one slaughtered for food or found after death.
The word extends to anything resembling a dead body in its emptiness or structural remains: the carcase of a burned-out building, the carcase of an old ship.
In butchery, it specifically means the trunk of a slaughtered animal after the head, limbs, and organs have been removed.
The carcase hung in the cold room awaiting processing.
