camped

Slept under stars

Camped is the past tense of camp—to set up temporary shelter outdoors, typically in a tent: We camped by the river for three nights.

To camp out extends this to sleeping rough or staying somewhere temporarily: Fans camped out overnight for tickets.

In informal use, camped can also describe performing in an exaggeratedly theatrical or affected style: She really camped it up for the audience.
