camera trap
Motion-triggered wildlife recorder
A camera trap is a remotely activated camera that captures images of wildlife when triggered by motion or infrared sensors.
Researchers use them to document elusive species without human presence disturbing natural behavior: The camera trap caught footage of a snow leopard at 4,000 meters.
Also called trail camera or game camera.
