calf cramp
Lower leg seizure
A calf cramp is a sudden, involuntary contraction of the muscles in the back of the lower leg, causing sharp pain and temporary immobility.
These spasms often strike during exercise or in the middle of the night: I woke up with a calf cramp and had to walk it off.
Also called a charley horse when referring to leg cramps generally.
