Bulldogs are a breed of dog with a muscular, stocky build, broad head, and wrinkled face with an undershot jaw.
Originally bred for bull-baiting, they're now companion animals known for their gentle temperament despite their fierce appearance.
The term extends to anyone tenacious or stubbornly determined: She pursued the story with bulldog persistence.
Bulldog is also a mascot for schools and sports teams.
