bulker

Dry goods ship

A bulker is a cargo ship designed to carry unpackaged bulk commodities—grain, coal, ore, cement—in large holds rather than containers.

The term distinguishes these vessels from container ships and tankers: The bulker was loaded with iron ore bound for China.

Bulker also appears occasionally for anything that adds bulk: a bulking agent or filler.
