breech position
Bottom-down fetal orientation
Breech position is a fetal orientation in which the baby's buttocks or feet, rather than the head, are positioned to emerge first during delivery.
This complicates vaginal birth and often leads to cesarean section.
The term comes from breech meaning the rear or buttocks: The ultrasound showed the baby was in breech position.
