box step
Dancer's traced rectangle
A box step is a basic dance pattern in which the feet trace a square or rectangular shape on the floor.
The dancer steps forward, to the side, then closes; then back, to the side, and closes—forming a box.
It's fundamental to ballroom dances like the waltz and rumba: Once you master the box step, everything else gets easier.
