box out
Seal off rebounder
Box out is a basketball term for positioning your body between an opponent and the basket to secure a rebound.
The defender spreads wide, backs into the opponent, and claims the space where the ball is likely to fall.
The technique extends to any situation where you use positioning to exclude competitors: The big studios box out independent films from prime release dates.
