educated guess
Reasoned but uncertain
An educated guess is an estimate or prediction based on relevant knowledge and experience rather than random speculation.
Unlike a wild guess, an educated guess draws on what you already know about a situation: I don't have the exact figures, but my educated guess is we'll need about thirty chairs.
