Boob tube has two meanings on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
In American English, it's slang for television—the boob being the passive viewer who watches too much: We spent the evening in front of the boob tube.
In British English, a boob tube is a strapless top that fits snugly around a woman's torso, covering the boobs.
