bird watchers
Binocular-wielding naturalists
Bird watchers are people who observe wild birds as a hobby or scientific pursuit.
The activity ranges from casual backyard observation to dedicated expeditions with binoculars, field guides, and life lists tracking species spotted.
The bird watchers gathered at dawn hoping to see the rare warbler.
Also called birders, though some distinguish birders as more serious practitioners.
