binary digits
Computer's counting symbols
Binary digits are the two numerals—0 and 1—used in the base-2 number system that underlies all digital computing.
Every piece of data a computer processes reduces to sequences of binary digits.
The term is usually contracted to bits: a 64-bit processor, bits per second.
