logic gates
Binary decision components
Logic gates are the fundamental building blocks of digital circuits, performing basic operations on binary inputs to produce outputs.
Each gate type implements a specific logical function: AND gates output 1 only when all inputs are 1; OR gates output 1 when any input is 1; NOT gates invert the input.
More complex gates like NAND, NOR, and XOR combine these functions.
Physical logic gates are built from transistors; conceptual ones appear in programming and Boolean algebra.
The CPU contains billions of logic gates.
