biliousness

Sick, irritable feeling

Biliousness is a state of irritability, peevishness, or ill temper.

The word derives from an old medical theory that excess bile caused such moods: His morning biliousness made him impossible to be around.

The term can also describe actual digestive upset—nausea or queasiness—though the figurative sense of bad temper now predominates.
