beggar-ticks
Clinging seed plant
Beggar-ticks are plants of the genus *Bidens*, known for their small barbed seeds that cling tenaciously to clothing and animal fur.
The name refers to both the plants and the seeds themselves: I spent ten minutes picking beggar-ticks off my socks after the hike.
Also called sticktights or bur marigolds.
