autosuggestion
Influencing your own mind
Autosuggestion is the process of influencing your own mind through repeated thoughts or affirmations—essentially, self-hypnosis through deliberate mental repetition.
The technique assumes that telling yourself something often enough can reshape attitudes, habits, or physical states: Through autosuggestion, she trained herself to remain calm during presentations.
The concept was popularized by early 20th-century self-help movements.
