posthypnotic
After the trance
Posthypnotic describes something that occurs or takes effect after a hypnotic trance has ended.
A posthypnotic suggestion is an instruction given during hypnosis that the subject carries out afterward, often without conscious awareness: Under posthypnotic suggestion, she felt no craving for cigarettes.
The term appears almost exclusively in psychological and therapeutic contexts.
