interplanetary space
Cosmic gaps between
Interplanetary space is the region between planets within a solar system.
Though often imagined as empty, it contains solar wind, cosmic dust, and radiation.
The term distinguishes this zone from interstellar space (between star systems) and intergalactic space (between galaxies): The probe will travel through interplanetary space for seven years before reaching Jupiter.
