arytenoid cartilage
Voice box component
Arytenoid cartilages are a pair of small, pyramid-shaped cartilages at the back of the larynx that play a crucial role in voice production.
They anchor the vocal cords and control their tension and position, allowing the cords to open for breathing and close for speaking or singing.
When someone loses their voice or speaks hoarsely, the arytenoid cartilages may not be functioning properly.
