artillery battery
Grouped heavy weapons
An artillery battery is a military unit organized around a group of large guns or missile launchers, typically four to eight pieces, along with the personnel and equipment needed to operate them.
The term also refers to the guns themselves as a collective unit.
In fortifications, a battery is a prepared position where artillery is mounted: The coastal battery defended the harbor entrance.
Battery here shares the sense of grouped items working together, as in a battery of tests.
