artificial skin
Manufactured tissue covering
Artificial skin is a synthetic or bioengineered material designed to replace or cover damaged human skin.
It may be temporary—protecting burn victims while natural skin heals—or permanent, integrating with the body through transplantation.
Some versions use lab-grown cells; others are purely synthetic polymers.
The surgeon applied artificial skin to the burn site.
