arcsin

Sine function reversed

Arcsin is the inverse of the sine function in trigonometry—it takes a ratio and returns the angle that would produce it.

Given a value between -1 and 1, arcsin yields the angle (in radians or degrees) whose sine equals that value: arcsin(0.5) = 30°.

Also written as sin⁻¹ or asin.
