applied sciences
Technology and engineering
Applied sciences are fields that use scientific knowledge to solve practical problems—engineering, medicine, agriculture, and similar disciplines.
They stand in contrast to pure or theoretical sciences, which seek knowledge for its own sake.
The distinction isn't always clean; research often moves between theoretical discovery and practical application.
