carboy

Large rigid bottle

A carboy is a large bottle, typically made of glass or plastic, used for storing and transporting liquids.

Carboys hold anywhere from a few gallons to over a dozen, often encased in protective wicker or plastic.

They're common in chemistry labs for reagents and among home brewers for fermenting beer and wine: The cider sat in a glass carboy for six weeks.
