aphantasia
No mental pictures
Aphantasia is the inability to form mental images.
Someone with aphantasia cannot visualize a loved one's face, imagine a beach, or "see" anything in the mind's eye—they think in words, concepts, or abstract knowledge instead.
The condition exists on a spectrum, with some people having dim or fleeting imagery and others having none at all.
I have aphantasia, so when you say "picture a red apple," I just think the words.
