visual imagination
Seeing without eyes
Visual imagination is the mental capacity to form pictures in the mind—seeing things that aren't physically present.
It allows you to envision a beach you've never visited, picture how furniture might look rearranged, or recall a friend's face.
Artists, architects, and writers rely heavily on visual imagination: She could see the finished painting in her mind before touching brush to canvas.
Some people experience vivid mental imagery; others have little or none, a condition called aphantasia.
