ambulacral groove
Starfish arm furrow
The ambulacral groove is a channel running along the underside of a starfish's arm or similar echinoderm, housing the tube feet used for movement and feeding.
The groove extends from the central mouth outward along each arm, allowing the animal to grip surfaces and manipulate prey: The sea star's ambulacral grooves were lined with hundreds of tiny tube feet.
