yodel

Sing with breaks

Yodel is a style of singing that rapidly alternates between the normal voice and a high falsetto, producing a distinctive warbling sound.

It originated in the Alps as a way for herders to communicate across mountains and valleys.

The technique appears in folk music worldwide and occasionally in country and pop: She learned to yodel from her Swiss grandmother.
